Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem

I begin in the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

I would first like to take this opportunity as to welcome everybody to the greatest University and City in the entire world! (OK, I may have exaggerated that point a tiny little bit…)

So most of you have come to study, some have come just to get away from home or have a ‘good time’ and one or two of you may have deludingly come in the hope that you may find someone to marry or a little bit of all of the above.

Either way, you might find yourself asking where the Islamic Society (aka DMU ISoc) comes into play? Let’s take a look…

For some people, when they hear the term ‘Islamic Society’, they automatically get a mental image of ‘hardcore’ Brothers and Sisters running around campus like some tactical unit of ‘Fatwah Bandits’ or ‘Biddah Police’, labelling everything you do from the way you walk, talk, eat, sleep and go to the toilet as being “HHHHARRRAAAAAAAAAMM *Cough & Splutter* !!!

In truth, it’s nothing like that. The ISoc is actually made up of Brothers and Sisters from diverse backgrounds who simply want to try and better themselves and help others at the same time, whilst spreading the true meaning of our beautiful way of life that is Islam.

Now although we are an ‘Islamic’ Society, that doesn’t mean that every one of the events we host are ‘brain bashing’ lectures telling you how to lead your life. In fact, NONE of them are! Aside from hosting inspiring talks now and again, we also cater for a multitude of aspects such as sports, social nights and the like. Who says you can’t ‘Partay’ the Halal way?!

So the only question left is why not get involved with the ISoc? ‘Cause the ISoc is simply what you make it to be. (Dodgyness need not apply!)

So become a part of the ISoc... You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
